The X Factor

July 9, 2021 Filed Under: Quilts Leave a Comment

Last weekend my friend Brenda Gael Smith from Australia invited me to join her 3 hour workshop The X Factor. I was happy to join because I know how good Brenda is in everything she does. It was also interesting to see how the online teaching goes.

There were four more ladies from UK that were taking this class.

We started making two different sets of x-factor blocks cutting through two sets of contrasting fabrics:

Brenda showed us many different X-factor quilts she made but one that I fell in love with was 9 blocks quilt made using 10 different sets of two contrasting fabrics. When the workshop was over, I started cutting and making my blocks until I made a quilt top:

Machine quilting was the next and my favorite step. First I quilted two sets of blocks, turning them into placemats:

The quilt top I quilted using the same quilting design:

22 x 22 inches

Few closeups:

Brenda is teaching other workshops as well. She is a perfectionist, a wonderful teacher, her classes are well prepared. You can look on her teaching website https://serendipitypatchwork.com.au/ what classes she is teaching.
