The month of May was very busy and very industrious for me. It started with releasing a catalog for the SAQA Heritage project. I worked on the catalog with two wonderful team members Elizabeth Byrom and her husband Stuart Byrom who is a professional photographer. If you like our quilts and our catalog, you can buy it on Blurb. Just click on the cover photo to see the catalog:
On May 26th there was an opening of the 25th Lithuanian bookplate exhibition at Siauliai district library. 73 artists exhibit 226 bookplates (exlibrisses) and I am one of them as well. I guess I am the only artist making quilted fabric exlibrisses, at least the only one in Lithuania. I have two of my works exhibited. The exhibition will travel throughout Lithuania. There was also a very nice catalog produced.
Finally at the end of May I had to post my next challenge quilt for The Fifteen by Fifteen. It is the book #3, and again my piece was based on Haruki Murakami’s book The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle. Generally I don’t like science fiction, but the mystery that I find in his books I can explain to myself as a result of consciousness interaction with subconsciousness. In this quilt I am showing the well, the cat and the Wind-Up Bird because they all are important for what is happening in the book.
In the book #4 I am going to go deeply into the well and you are invited to come and see it.
