Great Quilters and Great Quilts

September 22, 2016 Filed Under: Exhibitions, Quilts, Travel Leave a Comment

Today  I would like to share few photos of great quilters and great quilts that I met and saw at the EPM 2016.

First of all it was Edyta Sitar from Laundry Basket Quilts. I knew her from the time I lived in USA. We even spoke English with the same accent! I was lucky enough to watch her grow as a quilter, an artist and a business woman. She became a world known star but it hasn’t change her personality. She still is the same soft spoken and very sincere woman.

I knew she was at EPM but she didn’t know I was there too. When she saw and recognized me, she said she couldn’t believe I wasn’t a ghost. But I wasn’t!

I would like to share few photos of her wonderful quilts.  They are traditional but Edyta always adds a twist that makes them easy recognizable as Edyta’s quilts.

Here they are:

The other wonderful exhibition was Color Improvisations 2, curated by Nancy Crow.  Her quilt Riff #4 Calm took my breath away:

And last but not least were Ann Johnston‘s quilts. I even got a chance to talk to her and tell her how much I appreciate her books, especially those on fabric dyeing. She had a series of great quilts too. Here are just few of them:

I am very happy I went there. Besides seeing great quilts and meeting great quilters there was also the time for exploring Alsace. I am going to tell about this in my next post. Come back!
